Swachh Sagar, Surakshit Sagar 5.0 – Clean Coast, Safe Sea 🌊
Proud to share that today, 12th September 2026, Dr. Debasis Dash, Director, Institute of Life Sciences (BRIC-ILS), launched the Swachh Sagar, Surakshit Sagar 5.0 campaign, in line with the vision of the Ministry of Earth Sciences and our Government's commitment to protecting India's coastlines and marine ecosystems.
Running from September 12–19, 2026, this nationwide initiative brings together citizens, students, and institutions through a series of impactful activities — Cyclothon, Marathon, Ozone Day Activity, Human Chain, Online & Offline Pledge, Ocean Olympiad, and Major Beach Clean-up drives.
As part of this campaign, our students, faculties, staff, and researchers have come together and committed to a mass Beach Clean-up drive on 14th September 2026, reaffirming our institute's dedication to environmental stewardship and hands-on community action.
At BRIC-ILS, we believe that scientific institutions have a vital role to play not just in advancing research, but in driving public awareness and community action for environmental stewardship. A clean coast is not just an environmental necessity — it is integral to the health of our oceans, our biodiversity, and future generations.
