Research activities under the epoch of Department of Science and Technology (Govt. of Orissa)

Our major emphasis during the period for 1991-2002 was given for deciphering the adaptation strategies of submerged aquatic plants to low light intensity with extremely reduced conditions of active carbon sources, including the low concentration oxygen availability. The model plant system chosen was Hydrilla verticillata. We also made investigations on the status of antioxidant enzyme system in rice plant, including their role during seed germination and effect of salicylic acid.
